Here's what makes this comparison worth reading: on paper the caffeine is basically equal, and Total War's panel looks perfectly reasonable. But in my testing the two felt like different classes of product — and not in the direction the labels suggest.
The clearest evidence is the Total War side, where a sensible-looking formula produced a much rougher session than expected.
Total War isn't weak for pumps — agmatine is a real second pump ingredient — but Bulk Black keeps a slight edge on the higher citrulline dose and the broader formula. Focus is where it isn't close.
Bulk Black gets the overall performance edge because it gives you more citrulline and beta-alanine and adds 2.5g betaine.
Total War still has a respectable base. Six grams of citrulline malate plus 1g agmatine is a real pump stack, and 3.2g beta-alanine isn't a token dose. This is a Bulk Black win — not a Total War failure.
Caffeine is essentially a tie. Bulk Black has 325mg; Total War has 320mg active caffeine. Five milligrams is irrelevant in practical terms — so "Bulk Black is stronger because it has more caffeine" is the wrong explanation. The formula quality and your actual experience are what separate them.
Think of it as a natural-ingredient preference vs a conventional flavor system — not "clean vs dirty."
Total War is the value play when its tracked price is meaningfully lower. Bulk Black costs more, but it also gives you considerably more in the focus/performance part of the formula. The value winner is decided by current best-price data, not MSRP.
Neither is a beginner pre-workout.
Bulk Black is my pick overall.
The interesting part is that caffeine doesn't explain the difference. Bulk Black has 325mg and Total War has 320mg active caffeine — they're essentially identical there.
What changes the experience is the rest of the formula. Bulk Black has more citrulline, more beta-alanine, betaine and a dedicated focus stack built around tyrosine, Alpha-GPC, and theanine.
Total War is simpler and cheaper. It still gives you a legitimate 6g citrulline + 1g agmatine pump setup and 3.2g beta-alanine, so it isn't an underdosed product.
But in my testing, Total War felt much rougher — more jittery, more anxious and more like a caffeine hit — while Bulk Black felt considerably more controlled.
Buy Bulk Black for the better overall pre-workout. Buy Total War if saving money matters more than having the deeper formula.
