
Testofen is a trademarked fenugreek seed extract. Fenugreek itself is a culinary and traditional-medicine plant that's been eaten for a very long time. Testofen is a specific commercial preparation of it, produced to a defined specification and sold as a licensed ingredient to supplement brands.
That's the part most articles skip: Testofen is a product, not a plant. When you see it on a test booster label, you're seeing a licensed branded ingredient with its own research program — which is exactly why the distinction in the next section matters so much.
Extracts differ in what's concentrated, at what ratio, and at what dose. A meta-analysis found that fenugreek extracts overall may have a small favorable association with total testosterone in men — useful context, but very uncertain evidence. But generic fenugreek evidence cannot be treated as Testofen evidence, and the reverse is equally true.
Mixing generic fenugreek studies with Testofen-specific trials can overstate the evidence for a particular branded extract.

This is the best-supported claim on the ingredient, and it's worth saying plainly because it usually gets buried under testosterone marketing.
Two randomized, placebo-controlled trials in different populations — healthy men aged 25 to 52 over six weeks, and men aged 43 to 70 over twelve — both found improvements in sexual-function outcomes. The 2011 trial specifically flagged arousal and orgasm.
The 2011 result happened while testosterone stayed inside the normal range. The libido result in that trial did not require a clear testosterone rise, so libido and testosterone should not be treated as the same outcome.
Sometimes, in some populations, in some studies. That's the accurate answer.
The 2016 trial in men aged 43 to 70 found increases in total and free testosterone versus placebo over 12 weeks. The 2011 trial in younger men found testosterone stayed within the reference range. The 2020 exercise study found hormone differences at the higher dose alongside training.
So the picture is positive signals, not a consistent result across every population and timeframe. “Clinically proven testosterone booster” overstates what these trials collectively show. The evidence does not justify that wording.
Updated 2026 context: a systematic review/meta-analysis of fenugreek-derived preparations found a small favorable association with total testosterone (SMD 0.25), but no stable free-testosterone benefit and very low certainty of evidence. That supports cautious wording, not a blanket “clinically proven testosterone booster” claim.
The 2020 study is the relevant one, and its design matters more than its headline. 138 men, 8 weeks, 300 mg or 600 mg or placebo — and everyone was doing a calisthenics program.
Both active groups improved maximal leg press more than placebo, and the 600 mg group showed additional body-composition differences. That's a positive result. It's also a result in the context of a structured training block, which is doing a lot of the work.
Nothing in this literature suggests Testofen produces strength or muscle changes without training.
